“The Random Me” Who am I?

“Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get.” This is a well-known line that was made famous by Tom Hanks in the movie Forrest Gump. Life, at times, can be just as unpredictable as a box of chocolate. What lies beneath each chocolate coating, as with each new day is unpredictable. As a new day takes place, I am becoming more curious of myself. Each phase of my life, I establish myself as a new & unique individual, nevertheless, I’m still questioning- “Who am I?”
I was born on the 13th day of August, year of 1994, going 17. I’m a proud Leo. I love animals, especially dogs and bears. I’m super addicted to green stuffs, that’s why right now, I’m starting to collect green things. I have a simple but tightly-bonded-extended family. And I have to tell that my idol or should I say my hero, is my Grandpa (mother side). I did not have the chance to know or even see my father, but it’s not a big deal anyway. I am so much thankful and contented of what I have right now.
Well right now, I’m quite young, I think! I just graduated high school and I’m a first year student of UNP now. I’m proud to say that I am learning to become a nurse. Since I was a child, I knew already what I wanted to be in the future. I wanted to be a surgeon. High, isn’t it? If God permits, I know that someday, I can be that. I do enjoy college life but I prefer high school due to the work load. I would like to involve myself on some of the activities in our college, but I’m worried that I may not balance my time and schedules. So, I’ll just wait until my ‘spirit’ will tell me to do so. College lifestyle is fun though; the people are all very mature and independent. I think, I have to concede that I’m not that mature yet. It’s very different but this whole notion makes me feel like I’m growing a bit too quickly.
Like everyone, I have friends. However, I don’t have many close friends, only a small group of close friends that I trust & know very well. I’m much more comfortable when I am with them. They have been a part of me, since I knew them more. Up to now, I am still gaining friends. As a daughter, well, I cannot say that I am good neither bad . I just do the right things I know. Mmmmm, foods. I do quite well in that kind of matter. I can say that, it’s the best thing to do on earth. Whenever I’m depressed, stressed (toxic!), glad, tired or any emotions, it’s what I do-especially when I don’t do anything. When I’m bored, I usually sing, dance, play guitar, cook & eat, of course, listen to music, read books/magazines, & watch television.
I totally admit that I’m a very unique girl. I laugh a lot at practically anything & everything. I do a lot of random things but I am proud of them because I think it’s what makes me different.

“Four = Better Me” How Do I Become a Better Person?

A better world, a better home and a better life. We all want this, but how can we win this prices of life? Should we start it with someone else? NO, we should start it with ourselves. Changing and improving our personality towards a better Y-O-U.
The question now is, “How will I become a better person?” Well, I have considered four things in achieving the ‘better you.’ First on the list, the environment. They are the things we see, it may be a person, an animal or a thing surrounding us all the time. The environment plays a vital role in the making of a better person. Question: How? The environment affects our personality a lot; what we see, we do. It’s like a drug that gently transforms us, for good or for bad. We are a part of this, so we have to deal with it. Second is the mind- our knowledge, intellect and rational ability. I’ve considered this one because it’s something that we can’t lose. We carry this throughout our life. It helps us a lot in decision-making especially if we are well educated. If we doubt, we are thinking, therefore we are aware that we have to survive and continue to exist. We understand things and put it into reality. Third on the list is the body. Yes, the human body. We cannot live on earth without this. It’s a material element and requires enough attention to maintain its power. Good health must be stable & continuously provided so that we could do things well, physically. Lastly is the soul. This is our spirit. A substance that is infinite or endless. It is satisfied thru our relationship with God and other man. The body and soul are the two most important components that comprise us. If one is missing, the other wouldn’t work.
The four things: environment, mind, body & soul must be well-fitted with each other so that it would result to the “Better Person.” Still now, I am working this out to improve my personality. With these four concepts put together, I can become a better person. Ordinary, simple, no arguments, no worries, no long-lasting problems & no discomforts.

Filipino idiosyncrasies-I’m uniquely Filipino: The Filipino Youth- a Product of its Own Country

(InfoComrade.com)

As time goes by, changes are brought one by one to the different nations of the world. The continuous modernization, industrialization and increasing levels of urbanization along with the worsening status of poverty have drastically changed the face of the Filipino society and people. Each of these transitions affects each Filipino family, and what’s worse, it’s effects to every Filipino youth. But still, you can recognize the true nature of being a Filipino with their actions. Philippines is a gifted nation; Filipino youth, still carry those gifts.
By just standing at one corner and observing each Filipino youth, we can merely see the gifts of the Filipino people. Changes may affect them, but not all their natures. The Filipino youth is friendly. He easily gets himself in groups or “barkada” as what they call it. And being one of the members of the group and as a friend, he fights for the sake of his companions and is always there for a sense of mutual help. They even work together not for payment but to have a bonding. This is the spirit of “pakikisama.” As a friend, they tend to be more loyal with each other. They offer an unending love & support. There may be times that one of them gets wrong, still they forgive him because of the trust that they have with each other. The Filipino youth is hospitable, as always. With each friend they gather, they welcome him full of kindness. They offer everything they have and not being selfish about it, as they do it, they make you feel “at home”, and treat you as their brother/sister. The Filipino youth has a great respect also for their elders and parents. Yes, sometimes we may notice unpleasant things, but it’s their way of defending their selves (sometimes in a wrong way). As a young person, they obey their elders and do anything that could make them happy and feel young “at heart.” The Filipino youth is closely attached to his family and also his friends. He finds it difficult losing another member of the group or family member. In line with this, he always says- One for all, all for one.
We may see some teens singing current pop hits and dancing current dance steps, but if we dig deeper, we can find out that Filipino youth is still a product of its own country. Everything may change, but we, Filipino youths, will still carry the pride of every Filipino in the world.
