REFRESHING Duty.

i called our three days duty in Vigan City Health Center Office as refreshing because for the past days, we haven't continued to attend duty so that we can have what they say, "vacation". its refreshing because it restores all the basic things that i have learned. 1ST DAY- BACK TO BASICS DAY on this day, i thought it would not be different from the hospital setting because, all we have to do is to get the Vital signs of the out-patient such as blood pressure and temperature. when we had our orientation on the morning with Mrs. Javier, well, not shocked but i was just "naninibago" with the number of patients coming from day to day ranging from 100-200 patients. and yes, we had almost 160 patients as far as i remember. i was assigned at the admitting area, and it was very stressful because, first, this is new to me, second, the patients are not obediently following instructions, which is the problem- we cannot avoid this situation. the highlight of this day for me was administering TT (Tetanus Toxoid Vaccine) to those patients who have dog bites. the administration was intradermal, and the result was good. by the end of this day, our instructor told us that we should expect pre-natal check-ups and immunization on the third day-wednesday, so we should read about this things. 2ND DAY- CIRCUMCISION DAY on this second day, i was assigned as a VS nurse, which means i have to get the blood pressure of the patients. the number of patients that came in the center are lesser than yesterday, but still, its very tiring. i think the highlight of this day is in the afternoon where boys came over to have a circumcision. i never saw a boy being circumcised so this is my chance to see one, i said. it was a good experience to observe the circumcision because its an additional idea to me. by the end of this day, our instructor gave us some exercises on how to compute the EDC (expected date of delivery) and the AOG (age of gestation) because tomorrow, our patients are the pregnant women and babies to be immunized. 3RD DAY- IMMUNIZATION DAY. on this day, it was very nice because i was assigned in the immunization area where i have to administer the vaccines to the baby patients. there where so many patients. i think i have given vaccines for 15 and above number of babies. we have 55+ baby patients, so me and my duty mates are given the chance to administer vaccines for the babies. i have upgraded my confidence in terms of administering vaccines because of this experience. at the end of this day, we had a quiz and a personality test wherein our instructor shared some ideas regarding our personalities.
